Changing your name - after Marriage

You do not have to change your name... it is entirely your choice!
I will help you with this.
Here's how...

So, you have decided to change your name after marriage!

As your professional Marriage Celebrant, I choose to make this process easy for you.
(Note: many Marriage Celebrants do not offer to help with this process, but I do - because I am a premium Marriage Celebrant offering full service in NSW.)

Here is a simple summary:

  • Your NSW Registry-issued Marriage Certificate will cost an additional $60.
It is sent to you after your marriage date - via Registered Post to your postal address.
(It is not included in my fees - because this money does not come to me - it goes directly to the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.)

  • I have the application form for you. Here is a link:
https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2020-02/apply-for-marriage-certificate.pdf

  • You will need to provide me with clear copies of three (3) ID documents. The documents required are outlined on the application form. You can simply take a picture of the ID docs and provide them to me.

  • After your marriage is legally done - I have only two months with online access to apply for your NSW Registry-issued Marriage Certificate - on your behalf. (After this - you will need to apply online directly yourself).

To apply for your NSW Marriage Certificate yourself. Here is the link:
https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-marriage-certificate

When you receive your NSW Registry-issued Marriage Certificate via Registered Post, take that Official Marriage Certificate document (which will look more like a birth certificate than the decorative Marriage Certificate that I give to you at the time of your marriage) - take that to Australia Post to change your Australian Passport, and to Services NSW to change your Australian Driver's License.

Do the above with Australia Post and Services NSW within the 12 months after your marriage date and it is FREE!!!

If you wait 12 months and 1 day... you will need to pay $$$ to change these ID documents.

KATIE, YOUR MARRIAGE CELEBRANT - ALWAYS HERE TO HELP YOU WHERE I CAN!
